BALLET

_MG_1697.jpg

I was 3 years old when I started dancing and in 2004, I attended my first ballet class at ‘Avril Earl Dance and Theater Arts Center’ in Guernsey. I took my first ballet examination in 2005, following the ‘International Dance Teachers Association’ (IDTA) syllabus, which I passed. I continued to take my primary examinations during the following years, whilst at that dance school, receiving certificates, medals and results forms. In 2008, I moved to Bahrain and studied for ‘The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)’ examinations at Victoria Dance Center whereby I passed grade 2 and 3. In 2011, I moved to Dubai and started classes at ‘Turning Pointe Youth Ballet’ where I then studied the 'Royal Academy of Dance' (RAD) syllabus. I took my higher graded examinations with this dance school, also passing both grades 4 and 5. Over the years, I have taken part in numerous dance shows, developing my confidence and overall performance on stage, in front of live audiences, representing my academy in award ceremonies and annual events. When I was 12, I was offered to take part in the vocational course, which is a highly focused and prestigious practical training program that prepares students for a dance, or dance-related, career. I studied this advanced course for four years, focusing on both intermediate foundation and intermediate level and passing with distinction. I completed my final year of training at ‘Diverse Choreography and Performing Arts School and was registered for the examination representing ‘Turning Pointe Youth Ballet’ in April 2016. I am currently training at Advanced 1 standard, following Royal Academy of Dance examining body, which is a two-year course continuing to Advanced 2, whereby I will be eligible to study a CBTS course in order to apply for teacher training, further progressing my skill in years to come if I wish.

PERSONAL TRAINING

My desire to make a difference to the lives of others does not end with my interest in Criminal Investigation, I also strive to help others achieve their ideal body, confidence and happiness through my passion for health and fitness.

I combined my love for exercise with existing knowledge from A-level Biology and Physical Education, to complete an Active IQ course in gym instructing. By the age of 18, I was qualified as a REPS Level 2 fitness instructor, providing me with a platform to further progress to a Level 3 Personal Trainer in the near future.

Being an active sportswoman from a young age has inevitably increased my cooperation and social interaction skills, additionally, it has also taught me the values of self-discipline and persistence. It is through personal training that I have been able to share the significance of resilience from either positive or negative outcomes, ultimately encouraging others to progress towards their goals and become a better version of themselves.

LONG DISTANCE RUNNING

Most people will opt for a weekend lie-in, often recovering from the night before. Some prefer to spend their hours binge-watching the latest show, while others will head out for an all-day bottomless brunch feast. Me? I wake up and watch the world awaken with me, whether it be a long walk or coastal run. Why? It not only gives me an energy boost but makes me feel as though I've accomplished something before the day has even started. I have always ran for my personal enjoyment rather than the need to compete, however setting a race date in the calendar certainly does give me a push to get out there, especially when I am tempted to take the day off. I began 'going out for a long run' around the age of 15 and completed my first 10km road race when I was 16, in 00.57.58. I then entered the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon (10km) a year later and set a new PB of 00.53.46. I hope to run my first half marathon (21km) by the age of 20 and strive to eventually complete a full marathon.

OBSTACLE COURSE RACING (OCR)

Run, jump, crawl ... get electrocuted. These are just a handful of the activities I face when attending OCR boot camps and competitions. In 2017, after weeks of training, I decided to take part in the Du Tough Mudder (full course) in Dubai. Despite contemplating my suitability to the event, I eventually decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to challenge my athleticism, toughness and determination through miles of dirt paths and muddy waters!

This Event not only tested my physical strength but also mental grit throughout the 10-12 mile run and 20+ semi-insane obstacles; including:

The Block Ness Monster - 60ft of slick, rotating barriers

Arctic Enema Re-birth - swim and underwater dive through 10 tones of ice

Electroshock therapy - Mud sprint through a field of 10,000-volt dangling wires

Everest 2.0 - run up a 15' tall slick quarter pipe with a recurved top

Funky Monkey -  7ft tall angled monkey bars and trapeze

BEACH BOOTCAMPS & YOGA

Being a fitness enthusiast, you'll most likely find me at an impromptu boot camp around the city or beach yoga class, whether it be assisting or taking part! Last year I began taking part in various FitnessinDXB events, training alongside a community of like-minded individuals, with some degree of interest in healthy lifestyle and meeting new people, a family of which I have loved exercising with.  Fortunate to have lived in the vibrant city of Dubai, I have made the most of their free outdoor activities on offer, from paddleboarding, calisthenics or candlelight yoga.
